LESA's Building Blocks Tuition Assistance

The Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA) and its collaborative partners offer tuition assistance to children whose families' struggle with the rising costs of Lutheran elementary school tuition. Our mission is to touch the lives of children and families through an academically-focused, faith-based elementary school experience and make a positive difference in their future. Since its inception, LESA and it's Building Blocks Tuition Assistance programs have disbursed 10,399 awards to students in K-8th grade, with awards totaling $6,875,763. Our goal is to make Lutheran elementary school education accessible to all children who apply and qualify.

Application Process for 2014/2015 Tuition Assistance through

LESA’s Building Blocks Program

Need-based tuition assistance is available to students in kindergarten through 8th grade who are enrolled in LESA-member elementary schools for the 2014/2015 academic year.  Funding for tuition-assistance is provided by generous donors and an endowment established through the assistance of the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis.

Applications for tuition assistance must be completed online between January 1, 2014 and April 1, 2014 to be eligible for May, 2014 awards.   To apply for tuition-assistance, follow the instructions below, as well as those on the FACTS online application.  Only applications that have been submitted by April 1, 2014 and are considered “completed” by FACTS will be eligible to receive funding in the May, 2014 awards period.  Your school will be notified of awards made to students in your school on Friday, May 23, 2014. Your school administrator will contact you regarding the determination made on your application.

Applications submitted after the April 1st deadline will not be considered for May, 2014 awards.  If funding is available following the May awards, late applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis, beginning in June, 2014.

To apply for tuition assistance:

  • All families are encouraged to review any information posted on this webpage BEFORE completing an online application through FACTS to ensure that they understand the application and income verification submission processes and deadlines, as well as any funding limitations that may exist for 2014/2015 academic year Building Blocks awards.
  • If you would like to submit an application for tuition assistance after reviewing the information on this website, use your school’s unique link to access the FACTS online application.  This school-specific link to your school’s page on the FACTS website is available in your school office.
  • Follow the instructions and prompts on the FACTS online application to complete and submit your application.  Refer to the FACTS information sheet and checklist to ensure you have fulfilled all of the application requirements.
  • Payment of a $30 per-family, non-refundable application fee is required at the end of the application process to complete the application.
  • In addition to submitting the online application, families must submit income documentation to FACTS by uploading, mailing or faxing the information to the FACTS office as instructed in the online application process.  It may take up to 10 working days for FACTS to verify income information on the application, so it is important that this information is sent to FACTS immediately upon submission of the application, to ensure that the application will be “completed” by the deadline.
  • Applications will be reviewed and funding determinations will be made by the LESA Awards Committee.  Your school will be notified of award determinations on May 23, 2014.
