MP3 Players Spread the Word at Word of Life Lutheran in South St. Louis

03/26/2009 Students take 20 minutes out of each day to listen to the Bible on BibleSticks, MP3 players pre-loaded with 40 Bible stories and songs.

WHO: Students in 2nd-8th grade

WHAT: 100+ MP3 Players used for national Bible listening project

WHEN: February 1 – May 1, 2009

WHERE: Word of Life Lutheran School’s Primary and Main Campus

Students at Word of Life just recently completed a 40-day Bible listening program through LCMS World Mission: ABLAZE in God’s Word.

Biblesticks, pre-programmed MP3 players, with selected Bible text were used by students in 3rd-8th grade while the younger students participated in a CD classroom Bible listening program. The classroom teachers used the MP3 players as part of their morning devotion time and devotional journal writing time as well.
An estimated 80,000 minutes of listening time was spent by our students and faculty through this project. That’s over 1,333 hours that our kids were in the Word of God at school! Now that the listening project is over, they can pass their MP3 players on to someone who they want to share the word of God with or keep it. They also were given a CD with the same material on it and a “share-it” card that could be passed on to someone else to log on to a website at www.shareitcard.org and listen to a FREE audio Bible. You can take part in this as well.

And that’s not the end of this project. We designated this as our 3rd quarter chapel project as well. Our chapel offerings were designated for this same Bible Listening Project with all proceeds going to purchase Proclaimers, audio devices that are used in the mission fields throughout the world to share the Gospel message in the native tongue of the people. Our school challenge was to purchase 6 Proclaimers at a cost of $157.50 each to support one Bible-listening group in India of up to 25 people. We made our GOAL! Total chapel offerings and special gifts from our Grandparents Lunch reached $987.91. The 6 Proclaimers sharing the Word with up to 25 people would help START spreading the Gospel message to 150 people, who then share it with others, who then pass the Proclaimer on to others, and so on and so on! See what the little missionaries of Word of Life can do to impact the world with the name of Jesus Christ!
