Crusaders Win MathSci Bowl
On Monday, November 2, six Crusaders traveled to Concordia University, Chicago, for the annual MathSci Bowl. Ten mid-sized Christian high schools participated. Games are played in two seven minute halves, with teams answering toss-up and bonus questions involving mathematics and science. Lutheran North went 4-0 in the preliminary round, earning a number one seed in the tournament round. The quarterfinal match was very close with Lutheran North defeating Luther East of Lansing, Michigan, for the second time that day, by one question. LHSN then beat Christ Lutheran Academy, Plainfield, in the semi-final for a chance at the championship. Thanks to great courage and teamwork, the Crusaders came from behind, beating Lutheran High School of Rockford, IL, for the championship. The participating Crusaders pictured are faculty advisor John Kersten, senior Briana Session, and juniors Michael Keppel, Natalie Kost, Hailey Shoemaker, Brian Brown, and Kamilah Jones.
