The St. Louis-based Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA) will host its 13th annual “A Night for Kids" dinner-auction, Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 5-10 p.m., at Orlando Gardens South, 4300 Hoffmeister Ave., St. Louis, MO 63125.
The evening includes a tribute to The Lutheran Legacy Foundation as the 2017 Heritage Award recipient and the presentation of the Student Christian Leader Award to Sanai Kay Davis, a an 8th grader at River Roads Lutheran School.. The award, which includes a $500 scholarship underwritten by the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF), recognizes Lutheran elementary school students who demonstrate courage, compassion, leadership, academic achievement and a commitment to their community.
"A Night for Kids" is LESA's largest fundraiser providing significant funding for the Building Blocks Scholarship Awards. Last year's dinner-auction raised nearly $220,000 for Lutheran elementary schools in the St. Louis area which was matched dollar-for-dollar by the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis.
Since 2004, LESA has awarded more than $4.1million to children of all faiths in the St. Louis area.
More than 9,000 children attend LESA member schools in the St. Louis Metro Area and southern Illinois. A Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, LESA represents more than 31 elementary, and four high schools, including four National Blue Ribbon Schools and three National Lutheran Exemplary Schools.
